What will it really cost to own?
The price is only the start. Put in your own figures to see the yearly cost of a camper, what you'll pay per month, and what each night away works out at.

How the figures work
- CVRT is worked out from the camper's age, using the motor caravan test schedule: no test under 4 years, every 2 years from 4 to 9, every year from 10 to 29, and every 2 years from 30 to 39 for private use. Fees are the 2025 CVRT fees and don't include retests.
- Depreciation assumes it loses the same percentage of its value each year.
- Fuel is distance × fuel use × pump price.
- Every other default is a typical estimate, not a quote. Replace it with your own figure.
Often forgotten
- VRT, customs and VAT if you're importing. See the Import & VRT explainer.
- Tyres: campers often age them out before they wear out.
- Timing belt, leisure battery and awning repairs on older vans.
- First-season kit: levelling ramps, hook-up cable, gas bottles, bedding.
- Finance interest, if you're borrowing.
